Social Skills (14-17)

The Camp Winston Junior Social Skills Program is a daily program for campers that are 7-13 years of age. Campers learn social skills and engage in targeted activities to promote and encourage collaboration with peers, flexible thinking, perspective taking, turn taking, and teamwork through a variety of songs and games. There are two core activities in the social skills program:

  1. The Camp Winston Play Lab Program is a daily project-based social skills program. Campers are tasked with long term projects where they work with their peers to develop their collaboration, management, and planning skills.

  2. The Camp Winston Board Games Program is a daily games-based social skills program. Campers play complex games collaboratively with their peers to build relationships, learn new games, and practice learning complex rulesets in order to succeed.

Through sports, board games, role plays, art and discussions, our 7-13-year-olds learn to handle winning or losing games, the value of teamwork, and how to handle ever-changing agendas gracefully (“changing the picture in your head”), basic manners and the art of negotiation and compromise.
