Nature Program

The Camp Winston Nature Program involves each cabin of campers, ages 7-17, attending approximately two nature activity rotations a week during their time at Camp Winston. Campers visit the Camp Winston’s Nature Hut to visit a variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles. In our outdoor paddock, we have a donkey, alpaca, goats and sheep. Campers learn how to care for, feed,  and hold these animals including birds, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, snakes, tortoises, donkeys, alpacas, and goats. Campers earn “Nature Licenses” for learning the specific skills required to care for each animal. Additionally, we have an organic garden with 16 raised beds where campers learn to interact with their rooted friends by planting, weeding, harvesting, and sharing fruits, herbs and vegetables. Through their interactions with the animals and plants, children learn the significance and value of being a giver/receiver to all life.
