Please note that our teen program is only open to former Camp Winston campers (ages 14-17). Our first two sessions are for our male teens and the subsequent two support our female teens. The purpose of the teen program in addition to improving social and recreational skills is to teach job readiness. Work experience is broken down into hard skills (how to do dishes, mop floors, do laundry, work in a kitchen, help teach activities, or work with children…) and soft skills (presentation of self, conflict resolution, communication, being on time…). Each evening Teens choose jobs for the next day and they have the option of starting a camp-long project in a wide variety of fields. Teens may also choose to participate in a three day canoe trip in Algonquin Park.
Teens attending our program sign a contract holding themselves to certain standards for treatment of other participants, problem solving, and a desire to be at camp. Upon successful completion of the program teens are paid an honorarium in addition to whatever wages they were able to save.
